Griffith's Gnat and Al's Rat, two effective midge patterns can be fished individually or in tandem.
Fish them using hand tied leaders with hard, stiff butts to convey energy and soft tippets which drift beautifully.
I use a Gary Borger's leader formula.
One foot Of Maxima Camelion .013. (This material is hard and stiff)
Four feet of Maxima Camelion .010 (This material is hard and stiff)
Four feet of 5X Scientific Anglers 5x (This material is soft and supple)
1 foot of Scientific Anglers 8x. (This material is soft and supple.
