APRIL SUMMARY FOR MID ATLANTIC SPRING CREEKS

When amelanchier arborea is prominent in the barren woodlands of early spring, American Shad are at woodlands latitude in the Delaware River.

This rainy month brings us Swallows, Forsythia, green Willows, nesting Mallards, baetis vagans, paraleptophlebia adoptiva, Craneflies and some Caddis. On wild trout water it also brings the late April doldrums.

Water temperatures fluctuate between 46 and 56 degrees.
