CRESSBUGS

Writer's picture: flylehighflylehigh

Cress bugs are significant trout food in the Water Cress of cold spring creeks.

New broods appear once every two months so they populate a stream very quickly

Not as prolific or as important as scuds, in certain waters they are more common and serve the same role. They crawl rather than swim and are best imitated with a dead-drift.

The slow moving, cold, clear water of spring creeks make stealth and fine tippet imperative.

Fish the edges of weed beds in the current.
