March summary for eastern spring creeks


The first part of March brings water temperatures in the mid fortys and the first Robins of the season.

It’ been my experience a lot of a spring creeks big fish are caught in March with large WHITE patterns I,e. WHITE WOOLY BUGGERS.

Mayflies Baetis tricaudatus (Blue Wiinged Olives), Paraleptophlebia adoptiva (Iron Blue Duns) will be hatching as will Chironomidae (midges) and Tipula bucomis (Craneflies.)

PATTERNS

Al's Rat, Griffiths Gnat, Honeybug Inchworms, Scuds, Cressbugs, Snowfies, Globugs, Sucker Spawn, Beadheads, Brassies, Blue Winged Olives (18 & 24’S), Pheasant Tails, Crawfish, Elk Hair Caddis, Gold Ribbed Hares Ear.
