When I had my shop folks would ask me how I got my boys to develop and maintain an interest in fishing. The answer is to get them into big fish that pull hard.
In those days that was spelled S H A D.
They weren’t into matching the hatch or stalking wild trout. They were into catching lots of of big fish.
Saturday Dave, Cathy and I took the Hershey grand children to a fish and pay.
They didn’t learn to cast a fly. They still have no idea what a tricorythodes stigiatus is and they can’t tie a Nail Knot. They did have fun, they got dinner and they want to do it again.
I guess I’ll save my selective feeding lesson for later.
