After 30 years as a banker, I converted a historic Springhouse on the banks of Pennsylvania’s Little Lehigh to a fly shop. For fifteen years I studied this famous lime stoner’s ecosystem.

I learned from renowned fly fishing and tying personalities while giving hundreds of fly tying and fly fishing lessons and speaking at fishing and social clubs throughout the Mid Atlantic area.

During my professional years in fly fishing, I had many opportunities to meet fascinating people from all walks of life, such as Metropolitan Opera stars, rock stars, think tank leaders, country and western stars, net work television personalities, and a host of others with unique abilities and perspectives on life. I’ve fished, tied and learned from most of the world class fly fishing personalities such as Gary Borger, Lefty Kreh, Gary LaFontaine, Ernest Schwiebert, Charlie Meck, Barry & Cathy Beck, Ed Jaworowski, Ed Schenk, Oliver Edwards, Bob Clouser, Jack Gartside, Ed Koch, Don Baylor, A.K. Best, Larry Duckwall and others.

The Fly Fishing Guide, Fish and Fly Magazine, Best of the Lehigh Valley Magazine, the New York Times, the Morning Call, ESPN and Fox News have done pieces on the shop.

Since retiring, I spend most of my time camping and fishing around North America.

I have finished a manuscript entitled “Reflections, Thoughts and Advice of a Trout Bum.” The work consists of 55 chapters.

In Reflections, Observations, and Advice from a Trout Bum, I reflect on pleasant and not so pleasant experiences, share some observations along the river of life, provide some tips on living and fishing alone in the wilder places, and on learning how to be comfortable in your own skin."

Fishing tips are abundant.

The book is introduced by Dr Gary Borger and edited by Dr Alan Mittleman.
